Captain Spazzmataz: Final Day of Summer

Soooooo saaaaaaad!

I am terribly upset that today is my last day of summer. I know that Super Koala got three less days than I did, but I still think it was too short. However, today I was rather productive, and I finished up the last few things I had to do for my End of Summer List! I. DID. IT!!! I really am very proud of myself for finishing everything that I set out to do.

1. Finally take the Jazz Band field trip to the City Museum – I put this one together. A few weeks ago, I asked everyone if they still wanted to do it, and everyone agreed that it needed to happen. So, on August 7th, at 7 PM, five of the eight members of last year’s jazz band made it to the City Museum. It was probably one of the most fun nights ever.

2. Read five books to catch up on my reading challenge – I completed this one, and a few days early too, but somehow I am still behind. I don’t really understand how because I read five books when it said I was five books behind, but I am still two books short. Oh well, I guess I will have to catch up somewhere.

3. Memorize the marching show – I knew this one would be pretty easy because band camp ends before school starts, and we always get the entire how on the field (no matter how pretty it looks) before camp is over. That being said, this years music is the hardest ever, and for everyone else, it is the hardest drill ever. I didn’t really have to worry about my drill spots so much because I march less than half the show, but I still memorized them all and all of the music!

4. & 5. Complete 1000 Squats and Sit-ups – I can’t really provide much proof that I actually completed this task, but I promise that I did. I planned it out that I would need to do 40 of each every day, and I did for the most part. On the days that I forgot or was feeling too lazy, I just did the extra reps the next day.

6. Finish my LEGO airplane – This was probably the most satisfying task to complete. When I was finally done, it felt like a huge accomplishment, and it does so many tricks! The propellers spin, the fins move, even the wheels fold in! My next LEGO adventure is going to have to be pretty great to top this one.

7. Do all of my summer math packet – This wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it was going to be. When I broke it down by only doing five problems a day, it really didn’t seem like it took me that long. I could have probably done it all in one day and not even have been that stressed out. Thank you new math teacher for not making me cry over the summer.

8. Complete four Postcards and Wreckings – I almost didn’t do this one. I had forgotten about it until today, and I was just going to let it slide. However, when I realized it was the only task I wouldn’t have completed on the list, I knew I had to do it. And, it only took me about two hours to do it all, and it was pretty fun.

Postcards:

These are the postcards I did for the summer.

The sculpture one was pretty tricky. I looked online for some index card origami to make a sculpture with, and I did, but it didn’t turn out so great.

I mean, this is what it is supposed to look like, however, it was supposed to be a hopping bunny, but the material of the postcard was just to heavy for my bunny to get off the ground.

I finally did the hide this postcard in your neighbor’s yard card. I was pretty nervous, because I didn’t want anyone to see me doing it. However, if they do ever find it, I made it look very nice.

Hopefully it will be enjoyed. You can’t tell from this picture, but I wedged it in between the two corner bushes. It went in pretty far, but who knows, maybe they will find remnants of it some day.

The dice postcard probably would have worked better if I would have done it outside, but instead I decided to see where it would take me inside the house. For the first trial I started at my bedroom door, but only got through about four rolls before I got stuck in the bathroom.

For the second trial, I started in the sunroom, figuring that it was a more open space so I should get farther, however, I was quickly caught in another corner.

For my last postcard, It isn’t quite complete yet. I did the treasure map one, but no one has followed the map yet. But I will let you know how it turns out. I am going to hide it in the band room, and tell the saxophone section that the first person to find it gets a prize.

Journal Pages:

Three of my four journal pages had to be done using the wilderness, and I think you should be very proud of me. The only one that didn’t was this one, and I kind of stole your idea.

Mine didn’t turn out nearly as well as yours, but it still smells nice. I went for the pouring method, but when I poured the wax, it all kind of ran to the seam.

Two of my out doors pages relate to each other.

For both of these I went outside and collected some supplies and then the tracing of the first page was a copy of what actually went on the second. I think it turned out pretty cool.

My final page was very scary. I had to lay in the grass! Dun, dun, duuuuuun!

When ever I flipped passed this page, I could never figure out what to do with it. However, today I realized what it could be used for.

A pillow! If I am going to be dreaming outside, I must have a pillow to rest my head.

Well, I guess that is all I have. Nooo! I want there to be more summer!

Sort of Lazy Wrecking (sorry)

Dearest Super Koala,

I have some very exciting news to report today because you did not call. Today, Mr. B and P showed us what our show is going to be next year! I am super excited. It will be so cool (if we can pull it off). The title is Band Together, and it has an anti-bullying theme. This is the first year that will will have popular songs in our show. It is going to open with just some cords with voice over of bullying statistics. Then it will break into Same Love by Macklemore. Then the sort of feud section will include Bring Me to Life by Evanescence. After that is Beautiful by Christina Aguilera, and it closes out with Same Love again. The most exciting part is that I get to be Xtina!!! The soprano sax solo is the melody to Beautiful. I am so excited.

Now on to my Wrecking. I am sorry that it is kind of lackluster. I really ran out of steam when preparing my wrecking because it is so hot in our house. Also, I am missing one journal page because I had a plan, but then it turned out that I didn’t have all of the materials to do it. Whops. Furthermore, I was super prepared to do all of my wrecking outside of the house, but then I sort of forgot about it, and so I once again had to think of something quick to come up with.

For my journal page this week, I did a create your own. I really love playing with the different stitch settings on my sewing machine, so I made the challenge to sew the page. Tragically, it didn’t really turn out the way I wanted. Also, I should have used darker thread. I wanted to make a pretty design, but you can really turn the page when the machine is working out the super complicated stitches.

Also, they got a little sloppy because I accidentally had the width set too small for some of the stitches.

For my postcards, I did the hand map and the time machine. For my had map I learned from your mistake and only did my fingers, however, I accidentally did my left had which doesn’t get used nearly as much as my right. I sat looking at my had for about 20 minutes trying to think of what else I do with it, but I couldn’t think of anything (once again because of the heat). So, this postcard will be a work in progress.

As you can see, my fingertips get used quite a lot, but the rest of my fingers not so much.

My second postcard is a little better.

I wrote about my Hawaii trip and how amazing it was, and how I really want to go back. The bad part about this one is that I tried to draw Hawaiian flowers, but they didn’t turn out so well. I wanted ones that look like they came off of a Hawaiin shirt, so I looked up a picture, but I couldn’t get the shape right. Also, in both attempts, I could not get five petals to fit. Now they just sort of look like the flowers in the sky on Spongebob.

I am sorry for my not too great wrecking, and I promise to try harder next week. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow!

Slow, Eventual Wreckage

Dearest Captain Spazzmataz,

I do not know if my fingers even remember how to formulate proper postings any more!  It has been so incredibly long sing I have done one, long enough that I find it valid to use an exclamation point in my first sentence.  And that just does not happen very often.

To briefly recap my life: it has been pretty swell.  Today was my first headache free day since Sunday.  Most of the negative effects I was feeling have dissipated, which I do appreciate.   This weekend was filled with lots of lovely adventures, most of which occurred outside and with puppies.  To think, I thought I would be bored.  Tragically I also spent many dollars this weekend, but at least it was to support local artists.

Anyhow, I’m going to move onto the wreckage as there is much of it!  I apologize for any disorganization.

Because I’ve neglected my posting for so long, I have four of each this week.  Beginning with the postcards, I chose these four.

The first one I completed was the experience map.  And it took surprisingly forever.  My first mistake was using my entire, actual hand, instead of just a tiny toddler hand, which I can only assume is what is on the front of this card.  Nevertheless, I was fairly pleased with the finished product.

Secondly, I decided to experiment with the book’s black hole feature.  So handy, really.  I decided not to affix it to anything particular, and conversely decided to attempt to feed it all of the teacher things I did not want to do.  Obviously, I started with my desk.  This single item in my classroom easily contains 80% of the things I do not want to do.

Tragically, the desk plan did not work out.  I then attempted to go a little smaller and feed it my folders full of papers to grade, but that didn’t work either.  I still graded all of the things.

I had a good amount of fun with the break the rules postcard that was one of your firsts.  It did not turn out nearly as pretty as yours, but I did do all of these things.  I took the picture to prove that I walked on it, and ate while performing other tasks on the card.  Rebellious.  I also now have a paint thumbprint for one of my students.  In the event she decides to commit a felony, I will have the vital missing evidence to seal the deal on her prosecution.

For my last postcard, I used this most excellently outdated dictionary to rise to the posed challenge.

I don’t feel like the almighty postcard creators kept in mind how very many words are in the dictionary.  Because the pages are so close together, and this dictionary is rather large, almost all of my words were in the As.  Still, I made it work.  At this point my brain was semi-melting, so there were quite a few errors.  Sadness.

For my wreckage, I scoffed at the advice.  There is absolutely no need to go to a post office for stamps when schools exist.  I went around the building and petitioned various teachers for use of their ink stamps.  It was actually pretty fun, and they were all enthusiastic about our project.

I completed my next wreckage several days later, whilst I was trapped in Ms. Wood’s room for five hours effectively babysitting five seniors.  Everyone else was testing.  Fortunately, Ms. Wood has lots of those cheesy teacher posters, so I had muy materials for the following wreckage.

Ms. Wood also helped me complete one of the wreckings I never thought would be possible: the barter of a pen for a half piece of paper.  Luckily, Ms. Wood is a generous soul.  We decided it’d be funny to write something cryptic on her half of the paper, which now hangs next to my Super Koala currency on her desktop.  Curiosity abounds.

Also while senior-sitting, I decided to kick the book around on the floor a bunch.  The chilluns were very disturbed by this, but the book got wonderfully dirty.  And isn’t that just the point.

Wrecking with Glitter!

Dearest Super Koala,

I know I have talked to you about this, but I just wanted to remind you in case you forgot that you have not wrecked in quite some time. Quite. Some. Time.

Moving on. I don’t have much to say about my week since we have talked just about every day. We really need to limit our calls. I have nothing to write about. So, I will just go straight to my wrecking for the week. We will have about three weeks of regular posting before we see each other again, and then it will be summer time! I am so excited! We should start planning what we are going to do.

For my wrecking, I was able to get two of each, even though I told you I was only going to be able to get one journal page in. My two postcards are as follows.

These were actually way more fun than I thought they were going to be. For the action one, I had some balloons left over from my birthday party. So, I punched a hole, and tied the balloons on.

At first I only tied on one balloon, and it was just heavy enough to pull the balloon down, so I had to throw it up in the air and try to get a shot of it floating. However, I realized that I had plenty more balloons to tie one to get it to float, so I punched another hole and tied on another balloon.

This set up worked much better, and the card floats like a dream. For my second card, I picked a very important day in the future to write about.

Of course, that day would be the day aliens invade the Earth. I think my account is pretty accurate, so I guess we will have to wait and see. I mean, we probably won’t be around by the year 3000, but I feel like deep down in our graves we will be able to tell when it happens.

For my journal pages, I did these.

For the first one, I absolutely don’t to mud, so I changed it to represent my tastes better.

I had to clip the book open until it dried because of the glue, but I think it is beautiful. Unfortunately I didn’t plan ahead, and did the messy one first which is why I was uncertain as to if I was going to be able to do my second page by the end of today or not. But when I got home from my walk, the glue had dried and I was able to turn the pages without fear of them being stuck together.

The dotted line is the drive to the track at school, and the solid line is my nine laps around the track. I know a circle isn’t the most exciting walk, so that is why I added the drive as well.

Wrecking + Colorado

Dearest Super Koala,

I don’t even know if I know how to do this anymore! I haven’t posted in FOREVER. This post is going to strictly be my wrecking for this week and many pictures and accounts from my adventures in Colorado.

This week I was only able to complete one postcard because all of the other ones need more planning.

At first I thought it was going to be really lame, but some of the outcomes are really hilarious.

A few of my favorites are: Biodegradable Flower Computer, Quintessential Mud Shower, and Flamboyant Bird Chair.

For my wrecking, I was able to complete two.

I think they turned out pretty well. I could have gotten the page a lot blacker, but I got tired of it and was afraid a bug was going to attack me for disturbing its home. As for my super happy grass hear, I think he is adorable. I will call him Heath. Also, I really love our yard. It is always so nice looking and well kept, thanks to our Father, so that is where I got the grass from. No other grass is worthy to be in my wrecking book. Unless it is European grass, but seeing as I do not have access to that, I will have to stick with what I’ve got. Also, I think I am developing spring time allergies. I have sneezed and blown my nose so many times today that it hurts. So sad days for that.

Now on to my super Colorado post!

So for those of you who don’t know. I was in Colorado Springs last week for a band trip. We left on Wednesday after school and didn’t get back until Sunday evening. When we got there on Thursday, the first thing we did was visit the Olympic Training Center.

The first picture is the view down one of the roads that is lined with flags from countries across the world. It was a really pretty scene with the mountains in the background. The picture on the right is Shan and I in a real bobsled. We were the first ones to take a picture in it! After us, there was a line to get in it that didn’t die down until our actual tours started, so it is a good thing we got in. For our tour, a guide took us around to different buildings. We got to see the shooting range, the wrestling room, a couple of weight rooms, and the pool. While we were looking at the pool Ryan Lochte was swimming in it which is pretty cool.

After the Training Center we had a couple of hours to walk around the Garden of the Gods. If you don’t know what it is, it is a public park with amazing rock formations and trails. It is really REALLY cool, and if I ever go back to that area, I would definitely visit again.

We had so much fun climbing all over the smaller formations and seeing the fantastic bigger ones. Then, on our way to the hotel, I saw the best billboard ever.

It is just nice to know that Colorado is making sure I know all of the rules. I also saw many motel signs that said they were 4:20 friendly.

After a quick change in the hotel, we went to dinner and the show. Our dinner was at Fargo’s Pizza. I am Pizza spoiled, so it wasn’t that great, but it was food and greatly welcomed after a long day. Our show was Mamma Mia. This was the first time that I have seen it, and it was so good. I really enjoyed it, especially the end when Dad got up and started dancing.

The next day was a bright and early start at the United States Air Force Base. We had a clinic with their band leader and individual section master classes with someone from their band that plays the same instrument. It was really cool to get some one on one (or at least in my case one six on one time) with someone who is considered to be a professional at the same instrument that I play, especially because I am thinking about possibly joining a military band. The clinic was really great and they said that we were one of the most advanced bands that had ever come to work with them.

After that we went to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. They are ancient Native American homes that we could crawl through and explore. It was pretty cool to see the size of the rooms they lived in. Most of them were really small, and I have a feeling they had to duck a lot.

Also at the Cliff Dwellings, there was this mechanical horse that Mr. P thought would be a good idea to ride, however, you can tell by his face how he really felt.

Then we went to the Cave of the Winds. We got a tour and then we got to do this zip line thing and a ropes course that hung over the edge of the mountain.

The little spikey things in this picture are covered by wire because if you touch them they are poisons and you would have to get acid poured on the wound site to get the poison out. Our tour guide said that last month he accidentally hit his head on one.

This is a cave garden. It looks like a little village, but you can’t really see it all that well in my picture.

This formation was up in a little hole and it is called the giants bleeding heart. All of the lines running down make it look like veins, and the red color is natural.

The last formation we saw was this one, and it looks like Oogie-Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas!

This is the ropes course that we went on, and if you can’t tell, the picture is of me and my friend Titanicing. We Titaniced so many times throughout the trip. It was great.

This is me and Shan on the zip line. The picture is really blurry, but it is because we were moving super fast.

When we finished at the cave, we went to a dinner theater for another dinner and show night. The dinner was once again just okay, and the show was once again awesome. However, it was awesome for very different reasons. It was a melodrama, so basically it was so bad and cheesy that it was fantastic.

On our last day, we once again woke up super early and then took the Cog Railway up Pikes Peak. Even though we have already been up Pikes Peak, we definitely missed out the first time not taking the train up. It was so cool, and it went through the woods, so it was a lot prettier than going up the road. We were super lucky that we got to go because the day before was the first day that they were able to go up since December because of all the snow. My friends decided to get super artsy with our photo, but I think it turned out really cool.

We also saw this guy that was attempting to ski down the side! We got to talk to him while he was preparing. He is attempting to ski down all 56 mountains over 10,000 feet in Colorado and so far he has completed 38. He is my hero.

Also, we met these hikers that hiked up the mountain that morning and started the trek at 1:30 IN THE MORNING!!!! Also heroes. I didn’t get many good photos at the top of Pikes Peak because my camera dies.

Once we got down, we had like five minutes to get to the high school for the competition. Needless to say, we were late, but the people were very nice and let us push our time back. Once it was all over we wound up getting a gold rating for wind symphony, an gold rating for symphonic band, a silver rating for jazz 1, and a bronze rating for jazz 2. All in all, it was a really great trip, and a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Especially after the band trip to beat all band trips last year at Hawaii.

Long Overdue

Dearest Readers,

It is I, Super Koala.  It has been quite some time since the Spazz and I wrote a conventional post.  The past few weeks have been filled with lots of time together, and we’ve been busy actually doing things instead of writing about doing things.

That being said, we thought it’d be nice to reconvene and summarize what we’ve been up to lately.  For personal posterity.  I wasn’t sure how far back to start, and the Spazz is presently unreachable somewhere abouts Colorado.  So, this will likely be rather disjointed.

In late March, the Spazz spent a week at mah hizzouse and we had many lovely adventures.  This included dinners, fish fries, puppy expos, and trips to Silver Dollar City.

After Spazz went back to St. Louis, Sparhawk and I traveled to St. Louis for an extremely special occasion.  However, we began with a trip to the St. Louis Zoo.  If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it.  It’s pretty excellent, and it’s completely free.  I took a lot of pictures, particularly of monkeys and birds.  The highlights are posted below.

Somewhere in there, we had the below Starbucks “Happy Birthday” beverages.  THEY WERE DELICIOUS. They deserve a picture.

Onto the main event!  The reason we went to St. Louis was for a Bo Burnham show.  I shall perpetually measure time, we decided, as a pre- and post- Bo Burnham.  Kind of like B.C.E.  The show was most extraordinary.  We had front row center seats, and were promptly blinded by the very bright staging.  My favorite thing about a Bo Burnham show is that he makes me think.  Sure it’s comedy, sure it’s amusing, but above all, it’s intellectual.  I’m still ruminating on some of these sprung thoughts.  Life goal completed.  Spazz and I got shirts not pictured below.

The weekend after that, I traveled to St. Louis without Sparhawk and without puppies.  The occasion was for Easter, but as Spazz and I both have April birthdays, mine being the day after Easter, we did some pre-celebrating.  I was terribly excited to give Spazz her birthday present, which was a travel-sized record player along with Maroon 5’s new album.  This became extra perfect as the album is the same colors as the record player I picked out.  I had no idea.  The present went off very well, in my opinion.  Despite some incredibly vague hints I had dropped, Spazz had no idea, so the surprise was most successful.

After initial presenting, I discovered MamaBird had made me some most excellently awful Avengers cakes.  They tasted delicious, but weren’t incredibly pretty.  Nonetheless, chocolate cake is chocolate cake, and it’s the thought that counts.  I also received some delightful presents in the form of grey, polka-dot Vans from Spazzmataz and new Sperrys from my parents.  My feet are so well adorned.

While we were together, and before the Easter celebrations, we decided to accomplish a post card task.  As I had received multiple pairs of shoes, and was wearing my new Vans, this option seemed perfect.

Before we headed out for an evening of musical delight, we fastened our badges to our clothes.  Spazzmataz adjusted hers to reflect her birthday gift.  If you can’t read it, it says “Ask me about my record player.”  We each had three people ask us about our respective badges; fortunately, none of them were strangers.  I almost always hate talking to strangers.  And, we got to see our friend’s band play.  Their name is Koa, and they were really good.  Check ’em out.

Early Wrecking

Dearest Super Koala,

I am so prepared for my post today. You should be so proud. I did all of my wrecking outside of the house. I mean I did it at school, so it isn’t really as impressive, but I am still proud of myself for remembering to do it.

For my first journal page, I had a very wordy challenge.

I was in the gym, so I wrote down as many words as I could see without using names. They have all of those banners with names of people on specific teams that won things, but I didn’t want to use the names. I thought that was kind of weird, and those aren’t even really words, so I stuck to actual words. This is what I came up with.

I forgot to take a before picture of the next one, but it instructed me to gather names and autographs. I went around and asked people if they would sign my book, and one kid made me sign a document saying that he would get half the revenue from whatever money I made when I sold his signature if he became famous. I said that was a pretty fair trade off, especially since I doubt he will ever be super famous.

My first postcard was pretty fun. Once again I forgot to take a before picture, but I had to cut out the center of the card and take peoples’ pictures with the frame that was left. I had many willing models, and the pictures were really funny.

It was surprisingly difficult to get the frame lined up properly.

My second postcard is one that I am pretty sure you have already done. I had to make a mess while eating lunch, so two of my friends and I made a super mess during lunch.

We got some banana, hard-boiled egg yolk, grape juice, orange juice, ranch, cheeto dust, and chocolate pudding smeared across the card. I made the executive decision just to throw this one away.

On to the next order of business!

In regards to your spring break goals, I have a few ideas.

1. Make 50,000 simoleons.
2. Read 3 books
3. Write 3 chapters of a book
4. Plan meals for you and I to make when I visit
5. Run a total of 8 miles throughout the week

There, I think that is a pretty good start. Of course you can add personal things for like school and current goals you are working on, but these are my suggestions. I guess that is all I have for you, so I will end my post here. I can’t wait to visit in one week! Since I will be seeing you on Thursday next week, I think we should skip our posts next week, and we can make some adventure posts while we are together.

Incredibly Late Wrecking

Dearest Captain Spazzmataz,

It is I!  Finally posting my wreckage for the week.  And, as I promised, your Thursday post has not yet gone up.  So I have beaten you.  Muwahaha.

I feel like since I talked to you on the phone yesterday, I don’t have terribly much to say.  That, and we’ve added so many posts with our movie reviews.  Today’s snow day has been nice.  I went to the gym for training and then took the pups out.  Since then I’ve been a little lazy, really just doing laundry and reading a bit.  Nothing too thrilling.  It looks as though tomorrow I will have school, and then it’s off to spring break.  I’ll need to come up with some break goals so that I use my time better.  Mayhap, you can help me with this in your post.

For my wreckage:

As I explained, I feel like in-house wrecking is getting increasingly difficult.  Regardless, I managed to scrape together items for this week.

For my postcards, I chose two I believe you have already done.  One of which I know you did recently.

For my message, I hid not one but two secret correspondences on this post card.  Mainly because I felt like my first was far too easy.  Not that the second one is difficult either.  It’s just a smidge more challenging.

Then came my super hero challenge.  I tried conquering this in many different ways, none of which were particularly successful.  I just cannot draw people.  So, after two attempts, I abandoned the land of humans and went to the animal king.  I decided my nemesis for this would be BooBoo.  I drew myself as a koala, in true super hero form.  If BBKF were to be any villainous animal, she would totally be a snake.  So I drew her up with some very scary fangs.  At about this time I realized it has been quite a while since I drew anything at all.

For my wreckage I revisited a familiar concept.  Yesterday, Eric and I went on a snow adventure, and I decided to once again leave little notes in Barnes and Noble.  This time, I cannot tell you what books they were, as we did this in a rather silly manner.

Whilst cleaning earlier this week, I found this small piece of yarn and decided to save it for my wreckage.  I then attempted to tie up this page, as the book commands.  I did only an alright job.  First, I had to force holes via pencil, as I do not seem to own a whole punch.  Second, it was a small piece of yarn so I didn’t have a lot of room for coverage if I also wanted to make a bow.  But, we will live.

My post has finally been created!  Now I am off to hopefully finish a book and begin playing BioShock.  You really should help me figure out Spring Break goals.  Oh!  I can view it as a challenge!  And post about it!  Yes, yes, yes.

Wrecking not so Late

Dearest Super Koala,

I almost got away with being late this time! You didn’t even notice until a few hours ago that I did not post yesterday. Oh well, I guess you would have found out sooner or later.

My week was very stressful. I have had four tests, a presentation, and a surprise timed writing. Not to mention more homework than normal. What is wrong with my teachers? Why do they want me to cry all of the time? I even had to do sort of work in jazz band! Yesterday Mr. Brakefield had us fold 700 programs! And, they had two pages each, so about 6 or 7 people were folding 1400 pieces of paper. It took the entire class to finish. I guess we did pretty good though because there was only one paper cut suffered out of all of us. Besides my stresses, there isn’t really all that much to talk about this week, so I will just move on to my wrecking.

I had what I was going to do this week all planned out by Monday, but then everything took a turn for the worse. I forgot to bring the materials to school on Tuesday, and I forgot about them on Wednesday. Then, on Thursday, I only did about an eighth of everything, so I am just going to save that stuff for next week, and hopefully I will remember it.

For my journal pages I did two create your owns.

This one sounded better in my head than it turned out. I guess the final product does look kind of cool, but I didn’t really think about the fact that bouncy balls don’t bounce that well off of a soft paper book, so I didn’t have as much fun as I thought I would.

 

I even make the swirls in the same color of the ball that make it! I thought that was pretty clever.

My second one was a little better.

You gave me the idea after our conversation today. Your extreme need for a quilt made me want to make one. Even if the one I made wouldn’t really function that well as a blanket, It looks pretty cool in the book.

As you can tell from the picture, I went for a patchwork quilt. I think it looks pretty cool. I know I probably could have done it a little neater, but I did this in a rush.

My first postcard is one that you did last week.

I made the planet of Ostara. It is a beautiful planet with a large, lush forest and the cleanest natural body of water in the galaxy. The northern housing district is where all the smarty pants live. They cross the river every day into the working district to go to school and work. They are in charge of making sure the planet survives and that everyone has everything they need. The southern (and smaller) housing district houses the party animals. They cross the river to their left every day into to land of party. There they are in charge of making sure everyone is having a good time.

My second postcard is one that would potentially relieve all of my school stress.

I decided that the only thing I really wanted to be gone at that moment was my homework. I have so much to do this weekend!

Now I can just go into school on Monday and tell all of my teachers that my portable black hole ate my homework! Do you think they will believe me?

That is all I have for you this week. Hopefully next week is less stressful and I will be more prepared for my post. Now I am going to watch a movie because we have so many to watch this weekend.

Comparatively Belated Wrecking

Dearest Captain Spazzmataz,

As you know, based on our This is the Voice correspondents, I have been belated in my posting.  Yesterday was oddly stressful.  I had a lot to do teacher wise with being gone for so long.  And then I made it more stressful because today I decided I don’t like our play scripts and ordered scripts for an entire new play.  Given that our play is April 17th, this is not good.  But I’m hoping it will make for a better play overall.

I meant to have a really fantastic post today, too.  But all my ideas revolved around school, and then the play thing happened, and I no time at school.  So, my wreckage today is okay, and I’ll work on executing my ideas for next week’s post.

Post Cards:

One of my cards is one we’ve never done before, but I believe you’ve done the other.  My “carving” one didn’t turn out quite as nice as I would have liked.  I automatically knew I wouldn’t be carving anything.  In case you don’t recall from my refusal to scratch the scratchers, I hate the texture of scratching paper.  Of all kids.  So, instead, I went for a literary reference to one of my favorite books of all time: To Kill a Mockingbird.

My goal was to draw all the little items that get hidden in the tree.  Technically, I did this.  However, as the black ink dried, some of the items started to get a little muddled.  But, I’m still happy with the idea.

The next card features the daunting task of creating my own planet.  I decided to keep it, obviously, very scientific by using a strict legend to document life on my planet.  I named it Diana, as I feel the goddess Artemis is largely underrepresented in our present Roman mythology based solar system.  For every heart, there is a happy flock of puppies frolicking about and being loved and well cared for.  Every star is a library, of course.  A circle is a breakfast cafe, which is my favorite meal.  A square is a movie theater.  There aren’t as many squares because I think the movies would be more fun if they were a relatively special experience.  Ergo, travel.  Finally, every triangle is a dog park.  Because puppies need room for all that adorable frolicking.

For my wreckage, I tried to copy a Springfield transit route.  This was going okay, until Annabelle decided she wasn’t being petted enough and ferociously buried under my arm, bumping my clearly beautiful rendering.  The Springfield bus does not come to my house, so I went for the route that would get me as close to home as possible.  It’s still not very close.

 

My last wreckage is one I’ve been working on for a while, and is sadly still not finished.  I’ll take care of that this week.  It’s supposed to be a sharing of very tiny thoughts, but all the tiny writing hurts my hand a whole bunch.  And takes forever to fill a page.  So, for now, this one is a work in progress.
